Hey everyone!
I hope you are all having a good day of rest and eating. There were a
few things to share today... if anyone is planning to purchase anything
from Dell in the next month or so, let me know. I have a collection of
coupons from the Dellf sweepstakes. They range from $100 off certain
items to 20% off an LCD monitor. There are good coupons for computers
and laptops... if you are interested in playing, go to
http://dell.eprize.net/dell/dellf/ and register. Make sure to put in
all four "friends" e-mail addresses for four more chances to win.
It's a little bit difficult to type with a wrist splint. I went in and
had some x-rays done of my hand and wrist today. While I was moving all
of our junk around in the garage Monday I nailed my wrist on
something... don't remember exactly what I did but I remember it felt
like hitting my funny bone, except at my wrist. Last night my wrist was
extremely sensitive to any touch. No pain when moving fingers or wrist,
just any slight pressure on the bone between my hand and wrist (outer
part of the caporal tunnel below the thumb) would cause extreme pain.
Anyway, the x-ray didn't show anything currently broken, but it did show
that I had previously broken another bone in my hand... and did not have
it treated :-) I remember a few months ago having hit my hand on
something and having extreme pain for several weeks... I guess I did
break something at that point. I went and saw an orthopedist and he
told me that it was probably a contusion where a tendon connects to bone
right at the joint. It would be painful for a while and I should wear a
wrist splint as much as possible and definitely when I sleep.
Well, that's all for now! I'll get up early and start our thanksgiving
dinner! We'll have all the goodies... turkey, stuffing, mashed red-skin
potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, and home made
pumpkin pie!
Good night!
Steve

I just learned about that with my finger. The hand and facial bones heal differently than the "long" bones in arms and legs, etc. A break will show up for up to 6 months or more even when it is healed. All you can do is make sure it is not displaced in any direction and keep it immobile.
My finger is finally out of the splint and taping process, now I just have to keep the therapy up. It's still a little displaced/crooked, but as the joint comes back and the bone heals completely it should push the bone above back into place. It's taken a year for the pinky on the other hand to look almost normal again. 2 really bad breaks though.
Well, we are getting ready to head to Maggiano's for Turkey, Ham, and Italian food. Talk to you soon.
