How do you read this?

The announcer read the title below and got my attention. I thought the news story might have had to do with animal husbandry or something. Alas, it was just hockey :)

Scary Christmas to You

Meet George. He is the skull on the front of an FJ Cruiser owned by a guy on my team. He sends an odd message to drivers.

PAC MAN in Tron

We decided to watch Tron tonight. To our surprise, we found Pac Man.

An even better sign...

I was thinking this would make a great t-shirt!!!

They really mean it...

This is the best no parking sign I've seen. It was on a house in San Francisco. Very cool.

Things that are new: Virgil's Root Beer

I've had Virgil's in the past. It was a bit strong in the wintergreen. This version is imported from Bavaria in these nice cool bottles. After one sip, I could tell this wasn't the same as the regular version. It is far far better. I'm not sure if it's worth the $5 per bottle I paid, but it's pretty darn good. It has a great smooth flavor and creamy texture. Clearly one of the best, if not the best root beer I've had. I'll go with giving this a perfect 10 out of 10. Very yummy. If you happen to find it, I recommend giving it a try.

Things that are new: Pretzel M&Ms

On the heels of the coconut M&Ms, I tried these. Although I liked them better, I don't think I will go out of my way to buy more. The combo of chocolate and salty pretzels is always good, but this is just okay. 6 out of 10.

Things that are new: Coconut M&Ms

I found these in Hawaii. Costco sold them by the case. I bought a couple of bags from an ABC Store and gave them a try when I got home. I'm not a big fan of coconut, so I was a bit skeptical. The flavor was pretty mild, so it didn't overwhelm me. I wasn't super crazy about this new flavor and probably would not buy any more. Several of July coworkers that like coconut also tried these and did like them.

For me, I give them a 4/10. Others would likely rate them higher though.

Is this a stereotype?

Who says all service animals are dogs? And that they all love fire
hydrants? Either way, I thought this was pretty funny to see in an
airport. I'm glad they're looking out for the four legged travelers
now that they are regularly treating the two legged ones so poorly.

What do these guys make?

Looks like a place that makes things for about 1/2 the population...
Sorry if you're in that half.

Mmmmm... Purple stuff

I guess it counts as something "new", but I wasn't going to try it.
The ingredients were a bit odd... The advertise effects, just as odd.

Lost message...

Anyone else see anything wrong with this sign. A bad choice of
graphics placement at least

Heritage Dr. Pepper

I had two of the "real sugar" Dr. Peppers today. I'll have to admit, there isn't much difference in flavor, but they are lighter in texture. Good, but not as good as real Dublin Dr. Pepper. I'll have to rate this a 7... okay maybe an 8 out of 10.

Things that are new: Heritage Dr. Pepper

I can't wait to try this one, so I wanted to go ahead and post a photo. I heard about this a few weeks ago and have looked everywhere I've traveled (Santa Fe, NM; Huntsville, AL; Houston, TX) and have not found it. I was up near Boulder today and found it at Safeway. This goes along with the Throwback line from Pepsi and is only available in markets were Dr. Pepper is distributed by Pepsi. I have tired both Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback and both were noticeably better. I like Dr. Pepper, so this should be pretty good.

For anyone out there wondering what the difference between these sodas and what they sell normally... Sugar instead of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). HFCS makes sodas sticky and syrupy and in my opinion dulls the taste. Try one and I'm sure you'll agree.

Found Chuck

After visiting the previous post location, we found this "art" in the
hotel. Perhaps Chuck was looking for these...

So many things in Santa Fe

So, we checked out the Santa fe chocolate trail. Basically there are
four chocolate makers in the town that have banded together to market
the idea. We hit all four and samples some good and sone interesting
chocolates. Chuck's Nuts has been renamed to C. G. Higgins, but they
kept the sign.

A classic never dies

In high school, we had a graphic design lab. It had some nice
computers. Apple Macintosh LCII's and a Macintosh fx, and the one that people tried
not to use because it wasn't as powerful, the Classic. I was in Santa
Fe last week and this caught my eye. The check out was a Macintosh
Classic II. Probably the first style of all-in-one computer on the
market. This one was made in Singapore in August 1992 and looked to be
still running strong. The screen was a little faded and dim, but it
was humming along. Right next to it was an early model power mac. One
of the less desirable designs that Apple has ever invented.

It sounds so yummy...

Rush out to your local grocer and grab a pile of these yummy treats.
"cheesey smothered meat patty meal". Note may contain no cheese OR
beef... It's a "meat" patty covered in a "cheesy" sauce. It looks
like somebody threw up on their salsbury steak meal... No thanks!

Things that are new: Milky Way simply caramel

So, what can I say... A bar of caramel covered in chocolate. That's
what you get. Yummy, but not very interesting. 5/10 is my score. Now,
if I could just find some heritage Dr Pepper...

That's one smart car...

I was in a car yesterday and noticed this feature... You can turn off
the car's "ESP". That keeps it from guessing where you are going.

Oldie but goodie...

Here’s an old picture from a trip to Boston a few years ago.  I thought it was pretty funny…. I guess you need to get everything clean somehow ;)

Correction

So, I'm actually using blog writer lite on the iPhone. It allows you to post text only posts. That's a bummer. The other, more annoying lack of feature is that the keyboard does not rotate. So, after 2 posts (counting this one) I think it will be retired. Email posting seems to work well. Google has an iPhone app, but it only links to blogger. Not so useful. I'll keep looking.

... and some other people

Here is the description from this week's American Idol. I those "other
people" don't really count.

Testing some blogging software

Email blogging is easy, but it would be nice to have a better blog tool for the iPhone. I am testing iblogger lite. It's a free app that can link to blogger.

Initial setup was easy. The keyboard is locked into portrait mode, which is more difficult. I will see how it works and share the results.

Style update

It seems blogger has finally added some better customization features.  I've modified the blog format to test out some of the new options.  If you are interested, they are available from the blog dashboard in "blogger in draft".

Hoover Dam

We were forced to drive the across I-40 instead of the originally planned I-70 route to get to Las Vegas.  The detour was mainly caused by a snow storm that hit the night before we planned to leave.  We later learned that I-70 was closed due to an avalanche that buried the road in about 15 feet of snow.  Because of the detour, we drove through Flaggstaff, AZ and ended up crossing the Hoover Dam to get to Vegas.  This is the view of the dam from the east side before we crossed.  We got a good view of the new bridge begin built as well.  Should be fun once it's finished!

What's in a name....

Apparently the ability to e-mail photos with text is not working correctly...

This photo was taken while in Las Vegas last month.  I was wondering through the new mall next to the Aria hotel.  The mall is full of expensive stores with odd names... this one took the grand prize though.

Winner winner.. MORE SOYJOY dinner

Somehow Soy Joy felt the need to ship another case of 12 boxes of soy joy bars to us. So, see post from Oct with the pile of boxes... we have another pile. Goody!

Since it's been several months since there have been any posts, I guess it's time to play catch up... I have some funny images that I need to post from a recent trip to Las Vegas.

In other news, I finally set up a new home server... maybe I'll share the info on that as time progresses. For now, a few images are on the way.
