Hours of operation

We stopped by the dinosaur resource center in Woodland Park. This
somewhat complex sign was posted describing the hours. Apparently they
felt the need to separate the hours by many possible options.

Man cutting the cheese at Costco

We were walking through costco and saw this guy. He wasn't being very
discrete.

Winner winner soyjoy dinner

As an incentive at the pediatrics conference that Athena attended,
soyjoy offered to send some samples if she signed up online. When we
got home, this is what was waiting.... Two cases of each flavor.
Basically 144 bars. That's a lotta soy :)

Some yummy looking pudding

I noticed this at king soopers one day. It really looked like pepto
bismal to me. I've noticed it a few more times since then and it
doesn't look like anyone has bought any. Gee, I wonder why.

The first snow

I hear it's 80 degrees on the east coast. It is supposed to be 50 in
Colorado today and might not make it above freezing tomorrow. Yippie.

Another giant pancake!!

I think pancakes are just bigger in Colorado. I had breakfast at "the
egg and I" yesterday and this is what they brought. The pancake was s
big as the plate. I managed to eat about half of the pancake and
everything else.

That's one big pancake

At western omellete on the west side of Colorado springs you can order
the "plate-sized" pancake. Just one. That's what the person next to me
ordered. She ended up eating about half.

Great signage...

So, if the smoking doesn't kill you, the snakes will. Having a sign that bold and bigger than any other sign seemed to get a lot of attention.

Worst pencil sharpener design...

I have to say that this is just an odd item to see... not as odd as some other things I've posted, but still a bit odd.

Best gas station ever

I'd never seen these until our drive to steamboat springs. The name
ranks up there with "Loaf and Jug".

Great game snapshot

So this is the screenshot from one of the top ten iPhone apps right

Sounds like fun.

Happy 4th... And a view

Out cookout was interupted by a little rain storm. As it cleared, we
got a great view of a rainbow.

Don't forget to read the fine print

I saw this screen as I was walking through the Raleigh airport this
morning. I walked right up to the screen and could barely read the
bottom lines. I guess Delta doesn't really want you to get the
advice. :-)

Strange things at Target

I guess if you need to go fishing for whales, you'd need a lure this size. Or maybe giant squid. Either way, it seems out of place in Target... Especially in Colorado, a land locked state.

Stargate in Colorado Springs

This is one of the more recent additions to America the Beautiful park in downtown Colorado Springs. He you stand in the right spot, you can frame downtown. From the other side, you have a great view of Pike's Peak.

Classic: A view from a Starbucks

As I mentioned in a previous post, one of the best views from a Starbucks was in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Starbucks was on the Royal Mile and the view was of the castle. Very cool! Below is a picture from the Starbucks... taken after enjoying a mocha frappicino at the end of a long day of touring Edinburgh.

Time for a new look...

So, it's been a very long time since I changed the look and feel of the site. I decided to experiment... thoughts?

Eventually, I'd like to use some of my own photos for the header and background, but for now, I think I'll just try this one.

For those of you that check here from time to time, you can "follow" the blog by tagging it in your blogger account. I've also turned on "Adsense"... we'll see if it stays around or not. With the eclectic mix of posts, who knows what will get added to the page.

View from a Starbucks

Today is the first time I've been to the Starbucks at Academy and Woodmen and been inside. It has a pretty good view. This ranks up there on the list of Starbucks with a view... one of my favorites was in Edinburugh, Scotland... the view is pretty much of the castle. I'll see if I can find a picture and post it.

This was the view of Pike's Peak a few days ago. The clouds were rolling in just before a good storm.

things that are new : throwback

Pepsi just came out with a couple of "new" products. What's funny is that they are actually old style sodas. The first is "Pepsi cola throwback". It is Pepsi made with came sugar. The second is "Mountain Dew throwback". After trying the Pepsi, I'd say it is a big improvement. I'm not a fan of Pepsi, but he they keep this on the market, I'd be more likely to buy it. I give it an 8 out of 10.

the very best pizza in Chicago

On my recent trip to Chicago, I was able to sample a couple of pizzas. The two I tried were Uno's and Giordano's. I've had them both before, but never back to back. I tried Uno's first. It used to be really good (at least, that's what I remember.) This time, the crust was very dry and over cooked. I was very disappointed. I went to giordano's a couple of days later. It was a world of difference. The crust was perfect. The toppings were great. The quantity was, well, overwhelming. It made three very large meals.

Chicago Skyline

While attending a class in Chicago, I some time to visit the 96th floor of the Hancock tower. This is the view to the south. The building on the left is the new Trump tower and the black building on the right is the Sears Tower. Sunset was amazing and the weather was in the 60's... an real indian summer!!

Some funny looking twins

At the American Girl store in Chicago, there are a number of odd things. One of the "more" odd was this display. It said these two were twins. Either they were switched at birth or mommy has some explaining to do.

Designed for wide loads...

I'd heard that some hospital waiting rooms were installing, "extra wide" chairs for their less healthy patients... I guess these are for those people buying the XXXXXXXL undies at Macy's.

Macy's has a granny-pants sale!

I guess they decided to clear out all XXXXXXL undies...
